I believe that we get one chance to
dance on this earth, and I am moved by those who see a need
in the world and find a way to fill it. The Painted Truffle
supports the work of good people pursuing their passion to
make a difference. Alex Scott is one little girl who expemplifies
what it means to “make a difference.” And although
she no longer walks with us in this life, what she’s
given us in her short time here, through her lemonade stands
and through her bravery and courage, is touching the lives
of people of all ages, all over the world. Our truffle "Lemonade
Stand" is inspired by Alex.
Lemonade Stand™
I remember as a child gathering a pitcher of water, ice, sugar,
and lemons for a lemonade stand to make a little extra change.
For Alex Scott, making lemonade became her legacy. She was
diagnosed in 1998 at the age of two with neuroblastoma, an
aggressive childhood cancer. At the age of four she decided
to raise money to find a cure (over $4,000,000 to date). Alex
sadly lost her struggle with cancer on August 1, 2004, but
her life and her life’s work continue to inspire people
all over the world to squeeze lemons to make a change. Moved
by Alex’s will, I created this fresh-squeezed, organic
lemon-infused truffle with the hopes of making more change
for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The
Painted Truffle supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fund.

The mission of the Rainforest Alliance
is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that
depend on them by transforming land-use practices, business
practices, and consumer behavior. To that end, I’m thrilled
to be able to support sustainable farmers in Ecuador who are
using the canopy of the rainforest to grow shade cocoa. Our
truffle, “A Walk in The Rainforest,” was created
to not only honor the extremely hard work these farmers undertake
to bring us the luxury of chocolate, but to increase awareness
that we need to respect and walk in unison with our environment.
A Walk in The Rainforest™
Sustainable cocoa farmers in Ecuador are helping save the
rainforest by using it’s canopy to grow shade cocoa.
This intensely deep truffle—made with and rolled in
shavings of rich, earthy and 75% pure native Arriba shade
cocoa—pays tribute to those dedicated to protecting
our natural resources. Take a bite, close your eyes, and walk
in the rainforest. The Painted Truffle supports the Rainforest
Alliance, who helps support sustainable farming and protects
our earth’s precious treasures. For
